Q and A

Can I borrow a horse?
Yes. A team is you and whoever you are training, riding, or driving. It is the hours/miles that count.

What are considered countable hours/miles?
Any time you are working with your horse is countable hours. If you are sitting/standing and not interacting with your horse, that time is not counted. Ground work, trail riding, arena work, showing are considered countable hours. Grooming, cleaning stalls, watching a competition are not considered countable hours.

What if I enroll after April 1st?
Late entries are accepted at any time. The Distance Derby is here to promote time with your horse. If entering after April 1st, participants can only count hours/miles from the day of enrollment. Hours/miles are not retroactive.

When do I enter my hours/miles?
You can enter your hours/miles monthly. Please submit your month’s hours/miles by the first of the month. Hours/miles will be tallied and the traveling poster will be updated at the monthly saddle club meeting. You can also post your hours/miles on your profile as long as you have a Google account. Posting your hours/miles on your profile will keep the competition heated!
